What is an Independent Dental Hygienist?

In September 2007, Bill 171 passed. This bill permits dental hygienists in good standing with the College Of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO) and who have been authorized to self-initiate to practice independently from dentists. This means we can open our own practice or bring our service to you outside of the traditional dental clinic setting. 

Being in the dental industry for over 12 years, with patient experience I am grateful for, I listened to patients needs. I was getting tired of the fast-paced clinical setting and knew that the industry needed a shift to satisfy both need and want when it comes to dental hygiene. I wanted to offer my patients a more relaxed and wellness-focused environment. One where they feel welcomed and not rushed out.
